Discipline Process

If a matter comes to the attention of the Council of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors for referral to the Discipline Committee, whether from the Registrar or the Complaints Committee or otherwise, the Council may, pursuant to Sec. 25 of the Surveyors Act, appoint a mediator to look into the matter and make a report to the Council as to whether the matter should be referred to the Discipline Committee. Instructions to the member involved, beyond the Mediation Guidelines is available here.

The Council of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors may, pursuant to Sec. 26 of the Surveyors Act, direct the Discipline Committee to hear and determine allegations of professional misconduct or incompetence against a member of the Association and the Committee shall appoint a discipline panel to hear and determine the matter.

It may go without saying but if you are involved in a disciplinary matter take it seriously and put in the necessary energy to represent yourself and listen to the concerns of the Association.
