Educational RequirementsThe Academic and Experience Requirements Committee (AERC) is responsible for ensuring that every person admitted to membership in the Association has the requisite academic knowledge and experience to practice professional land surveying in Ontario.
Admission Requirements
The basic requirements for admission are:
Canadian citizenship or the status of permanent resident in Canada;
minimum age of 18 years;
compliance with the academic and experience requirements specified in the regulations;
completion of the term of articles;
successful completion of the professional examination; and,
is of a good character.
What Academic Education is Required?
A detailed evaluation of academic and other qualifications will be made by the AERC, provided one of the following has been obtained:
a University Degree;
a four-year Technological Degree in Engineering or Survey Science;
a three-year Technological Diploma in Survey Science; or,
a professional survey licence.
The AERC, after reviewing the candidates qualifications, will specify the extra credits or the examination programme which must be completed to satisfy the academic requirements. Some Schools offering instruction in Surveying
