Geology and the Centre for Spatial Analysis (CSpA) offer three programs to
students interested in pursuing a career in Spatial Analysis and GIS.
These programs were designed to address industry needs by offering a
balance of technical and other skills in Spatial Analysis and GIS with an
emphasis on patterns, relationships and processes. They promote
problem-based learning and hands-on applications as they relate to
geodatabase modelling and analysis.

1. Certificate in GIS (part-time studies)
2. Diploma in Spatial Analysis & GIS (part-time studies)
3. Graduate Diploma in Spatial Analysis and GIS (Graduate Level)

Students have the option of taking the part-time Diploma and Certificate
over one or two years.

The Diploma in Spatial Information Science addresses industry needs by offering a balance of technical and analytical skills in spatial analysis and GIS complemented with skills in software development, applications, open source and large spatial database design and management.
The Certificate in GIS is intended for students who have a basic academic or experiential training and who wish to obtain a qualification in the more technical aspects of GIS. This program provides expertise and skills in desktop GIS tools and analysis for multi-disciplinary applications. It emphasizes the development of a strong working knowledge of current GIS software without the analytical and programming focus of the diploma program.
